You’ve probably heard of the iconic Chelsea Flower Show... a garden show held for five days in May by the Royal Horticultural Society in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London. Held at Chelsea since 1912, the show is attended by members of the British Royal Family.
But have you heard about Chelsea in Bloom - a completely free celebration of all things flowers along the streets of Chelsea? And Belgravia in Bloom as well...
This year I was so happy to catch a little bit of it through for the first time! 2022’s theme is ‘British Icons’: from the characters, symbols and emblems across the United Kingdom in celebration for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
The leading boutiques and landmark restaurants were all so pretty with unique floral-themed decorations. It was a total delight to walk through the streets of Chelsea and Belgravia. Look at the breath-taking displays made of flowers!
Provavelmente já ouviram falar do icónico Chelsea Flower Show... um festival de jardim realizado, ao longo de cinco dias em maio, pela Royal Horticultural Society, nos terrenos do Royal Hospital Chelsea, em Londres. A acontecer em Chelsea desde 1912, o espetáculo conta sempre com a presença de membros da Família Real Britânica.

Este ano fiquei super feliz por, finalmente, conseguir apanhar um pouco do evento, pela primeira vez! O tema de 2022 foi "Ícones britânicos": das personagens, aos símbolos e emblemas de todo o Reino Unido em comemoração do Jubileu de Platina da Rainha.
As principais boutiques e restaurantes de referência estavam todos lindíssimos com decorações exclusivas com temas florais. Foi um deleite total passear pelas ruas de Chelsea e Belgravia. Vejam agora as instalações feitas de flores de cortar a respiração!
EGGS OF AN ERA
Seven giant egg-shaped masterpieces created by leading artists have been in Chelsea to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Each egg represented a different decade of the Queen’s reign. From all 7 I found 6… not bad!
1. 70 by Simon Emery. This egg was created to represent the 1970’s decade of Her Majesty’s reign - a time of the Silver Jubilee. Union Jack flags were everywhere.
2. The Queen and Her Kings by Sasha Compton. This egg was created to celebrante the 2020’s decade of Her Majesty’s reign. A decade for family and intimacy. This egg celebrates the Queen and her future Kings. The design was inspired by Fabergé eggs.
3. Cocktail Hour by Patricia Mitchell. This egg was created to represent the 1980’s decade. The butterflies represent some of the best British pop music to emerge in that decade.
4. Flower Power by Rebecca Campbell. This egg was created to represent the 1960’s decade. A salute to the Swinging 60’s celebrating love and peace. Taking inspiration from another British Queen, Mary Quant, the Fashion and style icon of the time
5. The Turquoise Egg by Tatiana Alida. This egg was created to represent the 2010’s decade. It takes its inspiration from the magical way the Queen Elizabeth II has touched so many people’s hearts and inspired them. The blue of the ocean is something we all have memories of and like Her Majesty we all look to for inspiration and hope.
6. Garden of Joy by Ozlem Thompson . This egg was created to represent the 1990’s. Inspired by a striking glittery dress the Queen wore for the Royal Variety Performance in 1999. This design combines those joyful colours with the emblem of the Tudors Rose.
All of them will be auctioned later in 2023 to rise funds to suppport Elephant Family conservation work across South Asia.
Sete obras-primas gigantes em forma de ovo e criadas por artistas reconhecidos estiveram em Chelsea para celebrar o Jubileu de Platina da Rainha.
Cada ovo representava uma década diferente do reinado da rainha. De um total de 7 ovos, encontrei 6… nada mal!
1. ‘70’ por Simon Emery. Este ovo foi criado para representar a década de 70 do reinado de Sua Majestade - época do seu Jubileu de Prata. Na época, bandeiras Union Jack estavam espalhadas por toda parte.
2. ‘A Rainha e Seus Reis’ por Sasha Compton. Este ovo foi criado para celebrar a década de 2020. Uma década para a família e intimidade. Este ovo celebra a Rainha e os seus futuros Reis. O design foi inspirado nos ovos Fabergé.
3. ‘Hora do Cocktail’ por Patricia Mitchell. Este ovo foi criado para representar a década de 80. As borboletas representam algumas das melhores músicas pop britânicas que surgiram naquela década.
4. ‘Flower Power’ por Rebecca Campbell. Este ovo foi criado para representar a década de 60. Uma saudação aos Swinging 60’s celebrando o amor e a paz. Inspirando-se em outra rainha britânica, Mary Quant, o ícone de moda e estilo daquela época.
5. ‘O Ovo Turquesa’ de Tatiana Alida. Este ovo foi criado para representar a década de 2010. Inspirado na maneira mágica como a rainha Elizabeth II tocou o coração de tantas pessoas, inspirando-as. O azul do oceano é algo de que todos temos memórias e, como Sua Majestade, todos procuramos nele inspiração e esperança.
6. ‘Jardim da Alegria’ de Ozlem Thompson. Este ovo foi criado para representar a década de 90. Inspirado por um impressionante vestido brilhante que a rainha usou para o Royal Variety Performance em 1999. Este design combina essas cores alegres com o emblema da Tudor Rose.
Todos eles serão leiloados no final de 2023 para arrecadar fundos em apoio ao trabalho de conservação da Elephant Family no sul da Ásia.
CORGIS TAKING OVER LONDON
The Queen is well known for her love of dogs, and corgis have become a recognised symbol of her 70-year reign. Her majesty has owned an estimated 30 corgis and dorgis (and corgi mixes) during this time.
In honour of this and to celebrate her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee, the Northbank, Victoria, Victoria Westminster and Whitehall BIDs are hosting a corgi trail.
Decorated by different contemporary artists and named after the Queen’s dogs, 19 large corgis were across gardens, stations, hotel lobbies and courtyards.

A rainha é bem conhecida pela sua paixão por cães, e os corgis tornaram-se um símbolo reconhecido do seu reinado de 70 anos. Sua majestade possuiu cerca de 30 corgis e dorgis (cruzamentos de corgi) durante esse período.
Em homenagem a esse facto e para celebrar o Jubileu de Platina de Sua Majestade, foi criada uma rota de corgis.
Decorados por diferentes artistas contemporâneos e batizados em homenagem aos cães da rainha, 19 corgis gigantes estiveram espalhados por jardins, estações, entradas de hotéis e pátios.

At the heart of Belgravia is the first Corgi of the trail: Honey, designed by Olivia Brotheridge.

Heather was designed by Olivia Clarke. Olivia's corgi was inspired by the parakeets of Windsor and London, the use of emerald green is a nod to the musical Wicked , who sponsored Heather.
Heather foi projetada por Olivia Clarke. O corgi de Olivia foi inspirado nos papagaios de Windsor e Londres, o uso do verde esmeralda é uma homenagem ao musical do West End ‘Wicked’ (‘O Feiticeiro de Oz’), que patrocinou Heather.
