Last June, Stella McCartney changed her main store in London from Mayfair to the famous Old Bond Street. And she could't do it without innovation.
The british designer has proved that high-fashion is firmly committed to the sustainability cause by opening this new store which claims to have the cleanest air in London. And how's that possible? Apart from the artistic, graphic and sound installations, it has handmade, organic and sustainably-sourced interiors, which includes air filter technology by Airlabs. This new technology removes 95 per cent of air pollutants and harmful gases, such as nitrogen dioxide.
It comes after recent research by its team of atmospheric chemists found that the ground floor of shops on nearby Oxford Street had similar pollution levels to the air outside, while the first floor of these shops carried 50 per cent of the pollution.
The new boutique has hidden eco-features, such as biodegradable mannequins made using a bioplastic material composed of 72 per cent sugar cane derivatives.
And as if it was not enough, outside the store is decorated with hundreds of Christmas lights. It really deserves a visit, specially at this time of the year!

A estilista britânica provou que a moda de luxo está firmemente comprometida com a causa da sustentabilidade ao abrir esta nova loja, que segundo consta tem o ar mais limpo de Londres. E como é que isso é possível? Além das instalações artísticas, gráficas e sonoras, possui interiores artesanais, orgânicos e de fontes sustentáveis, que incluem a tecnologia de filtro de ar da Airlabs. Esta nova tecnologia remove 95 por cento dos poluentes do ar e gases nocivos, como o dióxido de nitrogénio.
Este requisito vem de pesquisas recentes realizadas pela sua equipa de químicos atmosféricos que descobriram que, por exemplo, o piso térreo das lojas da vizinha Oxford Street tinha níveis de poluição semelhantes ao ar externo, e que o primeiro andar dessas lojas carregava 50% da poluição.
A nova boutique tem também características ecológicas ocultas, como manequins biodegradáveis feitos com material bioplástico composto por 72 por cento de derivados de cana-de-açúcar.
E como se não bastasse, o exterior da loja está decorado com centenas de luzes de Natal. Realmente merece uma visita, especialmente nesta época do ano!
